Malai’s action an insult to Madang electorate people

I REFER to the actions of the new Madang Open MP-elect Buka Goli Malai to align himself with the National Alliance in Kokopo.
Straight after his declaration, the new MP was whisked away by John Hickey on the Kumul to Wewak. This is an insult to the people of Madang Open electorate to see their new member being pushed around and airlifted like a cargo to Wewak.
I do not blame the guy because he himself admitted that he has no name. He is already suffering from inferiority complex and the Madang Open electorate, unfortunately, will have to cope with his shortcoming for the next five years.
I believe his actions demonstrated his lack of political maturity. Madang province has been a sleeping province for the past decades and people want real change.
A leader today must demonstrate his ability to integrate into the world scene and deal with real development issues. The member-elect’s actions speak volumes of leaders who are only suitable for traditional roles but cannot face the demands of global politics and commerce.
This role requires a new brand of leaders who are academically qualified and well exposed to contemporary development issues and global commerce to be able to formulate policies, present proposals, monitor and implement impact projects that will transform the lives of the people.
They must be able to communicate effectively with the donor agencies and the private sector and act as the antennae for the people they represent.
I feel sorry for the 100,000 plus people of Madang Open electorate as I do not anticipate much for the next five years.
