A CHURCH elder was allegedly shot dead by security forces near Togoba on the outskirts of Mt Hagen city last Tuesday.
Ward councillor Paia Mek identified the victim as 45-year-old John Pora Wingti.
He said the victim was not among the people who had earlier blocked the road in Keltiga, about 3km from Togoba.
Mr Mek said the security forces also detained a young man, Paraka Tembon, and slashed his hand with a small knife.
However, Highlands police commander Simon Kauba denied the claim saying he had not received any report from his men.
