Buka GH gets new drugs store

The Buka General Hospital (BGH) in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville opened its new medical transit drugs store last Friday.
It was officiated and witnessed by ABG President Joseph Kabui, BGH executives and staff, stakeholders and the people of Bougainville.
According to the chairman of the chief executive officer of Bougainville Health Division, Dr Pumpara, the transit store would now cater for Bougainville’s medical supplies.
He pointed out that over the years Bougianville had experience continuous shortage of medical drugs to its main hospital and rural health centres in the region.
Dr Pumpara added the with the transit store in hand Bougianville could now control and distribute its medical supplies equally to all health centres in the region.
“As the chairman of the new medical transit, me and my executives would ensure that the transit store is operational to service the best interest of our people, said Mr Pumpara.
He said his committees are committed to work along side with all stake holders to control medical supplies for Bougainville in order to avoid drug shortage.
Mr Pumpara also stressed that the medical transit would stock up drugs at all health centres where patients in rural areas could easily receive medical attention there instead of traveling to Buka.
“Our aim is to control and shock up medical supplies to cater for our sick population and to deliver to best health service to our people,” said Mr Pumpara.
ABG Health Minister Gerard Sinato said this is a positive sign of health development in the region and urged the people to appreciate and respect such facility.
He said for the first time Bougainville has had a decent medical transit store where all medical supplies could be monitored and controlled within the hospital’s surrounding.
Mr Sinato assured the medical transit committee of his support and added that his ministry would do whatever it can to source and fund money to purchase drugs for the transit store.
