Great integrity, sense in Wenge’s remarks

I REFER to the article “Growing pressure for Wenge to apologise” (Aug 3).
There is great integrity and sense of nationalism in Luther Wenge’s remarks.
Perhaps if we consider the state of some African countries today, where the indigenous people have become a minority in their own land, and even Australia for that matter, we might come to appreciate Wenge’s foresight and wisdom.
Papua New Guineans need to wake up to reality and not become intimidated by the “white-skinned” people.
The colonial mentality of the “Whiteman” or masta still dominates the minds of many Papua New Guineans today.
The mastas take advantage of this misperception and exploit us in employment opportunities, business ventures, and of course, election
results would be greatly influenced by that fac-
tor.
Yes, Wenge has a point and those who demanded his apology should rethink and withdraw their petitions.
