Top cop vows to take action against police officers

EAST New Britain police commander Supt Allan Kundi has assured the general public that definite action will be taken against some police members in Kokopo allegedly involved in destroying a residential house and its properties.
He said the Public Complaints Unit with East New Britain police were carrying out an internal investigation into the incident which occurred last weekend.
The incident happened at Vunamami village, when some policemen from the Kokopo general unit entered the village and ransacked a house causing damages to properties including electrical items.
Supt Kundi said the incident involved a civilian who allegedly picked up the policemen in his private vehicle and went to the Vunamami village.
The civilian reportedly had problems involving his female partner, who was residing at the house, and allegedly used the policemen to his benefit, Supt Kundi said.
He said these members involved in the incident were likely to be suspended.
