Government reps to attend arms talks

Three Government representatives from PNG will attend a conference in Geneva, Switzerland, next week to discuss developing systems of controlling the international flow of small arms.
They are Assistant Commissioner of Police Rafael Huafolo, Inter-Government Relations director Fred Sarufa and Dino Mas from the PNG High Commission in New York, United States.
The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (PNG) has assisted the government to draft a submission to the UN secretary-general towards an arms trade treaty, establishing common international standards for the import, export and transfer of conventional arms.
The conference will discuss the nature of arms transfer controls, existing frameworks and transfer control principles and their applications.
