NCD school robbed

By CLIFFORD FAIPARIK
More than K60,000 worth of electronic equipment were stolen from a computer laboratory at the Port Moresby National High School on Wednesday, school principal David Diowai said yesterday.
“The equipment included 24 computers and monitors, an overhead projector, DVD/CD writer, 6-3 way power surge protectors, laminating machine, multi scanner printer copier for colour print equipment,” he said.
Mr Diowai said that about 40 men armed with firearms, bush knives and other metal objects held up five security guards at about 2am.
“They tied them up with ropes and placed them in the flower gardens,” he added.
“They then went to the laboratory and broke open the iron bar door with a pinch bar to get in.”
Mr Diowai said the breaking of the door set off the alarm.
He said they then removed the equipment and escaped.
“The police dog unit came and traced the suspects to Morata. Unfortunately the dogs lost scent from there.”
