Law and order rumours deter participants

By ELIAS LARI

COORDINATORS for the Grassroots Personal Viability training programme within the country and Solomon Islands scheduled to meet in Banz, Western Highlands, next month are reluctant to attend because of rumours of law and order problems.
Janet Bulda, the coordinator for the Highlands region, said due to election related trouble in the province, many coordinators from Solomon Islands and within the country were afraid to attend the meeting, which is set for Sept 10-15.
Mrs Bulda said the purpose of the meeting was to set up an association for their network and discuss how best they would help people in their countries.
She said coordinators from other three regions in PNG and the Solomon Islands sent emails to each other expressing grave fear because of the law and order problems in Western Highlands.
“I want to make it clear that there is no election-related trouble in the province,” she said.
She added that the meeting would commence as planned earlier and urged other participants to attend.
