‘Headhunter’ set to play host

PNG Kick Boxing Association is set to host a national trial selection tournament in preparation for the coming PNG versus World international fights in December this year.
The selection trial tournament will see the best of local talents on display as they will fight to make the final 20 men team to represent the country against international fighters from around the world confirmed to fight in the best of World Kick Boxing, International Sport Kick Boxing and A1 World Combat Cup sanctioned PNG versus Rest of the World event on Dec 1 at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby.
The fighters from different centres like Lae, Port Moresby, Kimbe, Wewak, Buka, Madang, Simbu and Mt Hagen will nominate and send their seven best fighters in different weight classes from 55kg to 100kg, who have being actively involved in the sport for the last five years to compete in the historical event for the an once in a lifetime exposer to the world stage on Sept 29.
Total of 35 fighters are to compete in the tournament were 20 selected fighters will undertake an intensive two-month training at Bluff Inn and then OK Tedi to use the world-class facilities there in preparations for the meet.
PNGKBA boss and world champion Stanley Nandex said at the press conference yesterday that it was good opportunity for marketing PNG and requested the government to take fore front in funding the event.
The trials will be staged at the Sports Inn in Port Moresby where the venue was provided for by the LNA Group of Companies as a part of sponsorship deal.
