Driver cheats death

THE driver of a fuel tanker truck escaped death when his truck ran off the road and plunged in to a deep ravine of the Kintunu section of the Okuk Highway.
Policemen on duty at the site said the driver might have fallen asleep and lost control of the truck that ran off the road.
They said the accident happened last Friday morning between 8am and 9am.
The policemen, who declined to be identified, said apart from villagers stealing the fuel, there were no other incidents.
They controlled the traffic flow along the highway.
Traffic along the highway was partly halted as a tow truck owned by East West Trucking based in Goroka attended to the ditched truck.
The fuel tanker owned and operated by IPI Transport was towed to Goroka last Saturday morning.
Villagers living near the accident site took advantage of the accident to steal diesel and sell them at lower prices.
