NEWLY-appointed Minister for Information and Communication and Kokopo MP Patrick Tammur has thanked Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare for recognising his potential by giving him a ministry.
Mr Tammur said yesterday after Sir Michael announced the full 28-member cabinet and parliamentary secretaries that although he was a first-timer, his appointment was a vote of confidence for the people of Kokopo that gave him the mandate.
Mr Tammur said he was among the first to join the National Alliance Party camp in Wewak after his election, and was rewarded for his confidence in Sir Michael and his party.
Mr Tammur, son of former Kokopo MP and Mataungan leader Oscar Tammur, said that he would give his best to his new job as he was not new to the needs of the country and that of his own electorate.
