By SHEILA LASIBORI
THE heads of Papua New Guinea’s security forces and intelligence will be meeting with Indonesian Army chief of intelligence today.
PNG’s Chief of Defence intelligence Col Francis Agwi will lead the group which includes Defence Secretary Frederick Punangi, PNGDF commander Commodore Peter Ilau, Police Commissioner Gari Baki and director-general for the National Intelligence Organisation (NIO) Bob Nenta.
They will meet with Major Gen Syafnil Armen, the head of Intelligence of Strategic Agency of the Indonesian Army, at the PNGDF headquarters at Murray Barracks.
The Indonesian Embassy yesterday said Mr Armen’s visit was a result of an invitation by Mr Agwi, in an attempt to continue strengthening the relationship between the two armies.
Mr Agwi arrived from China at 3am today and will be meeting with his guest.
It is understood issues of security and intelligence will be discussed during the meetings with Mr Armen today and tomorrow before he returns to Indonesia via Brisbane, Australia.
Mr Armen was met by Indonesia’s Defence attaché to PNG Col Pasenga Talilah, senior staff from the embassy and several intelligence officers from the PNGDF at the Jackson International Airport yesterday.
