Sir Mek forms shadow govt; Bart is deputy

 

OPPOSITION leader Sir Mekere has announced his shadow ministers, with Lae MP Bart Philemon as the deputy leader of the Opposition, responsible for Treasury and Finance.
Sir Mekere announced his lineup last Friday in Port Moresby.
They are: Sir Mekere to take care for all offices under the Prime Minister and Public Enterprises; Paru Aihi (Kairuku Hiri) of the PNGP for National Planing and District Development; Francis Awesa (Imbongu) of PNGP for Mining; Puri Ruing (Dei) of PNGP for Agriculture and Livestock;
Ferao Orimyo (Henganofi) of PNGP for Education, Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology; Isaac Joseph (Mendi) of NGP for Public Service and Forestry; Francis Potape (Komo Magarima) of NGP for Petroleum & Energy; Tony Puana (Kandrian Gloucester) of NGP for Works, Transport & Civil Aviation;
Byron Chan (Namatanai) of PPP for Internal Security and Culture and Tourism; Sam Basil (Bulolo) of PPP for Fisheries, Labour and Industrial Relations; Bonny Oveyara (Okapa) of PPP for Commerce and Industry;
Theodore Zurenuo (Finschhafen) of PPP for Lands and Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development; Koni Iguan (Markham) of PLP is taking care of Inter-Government Relations and Autonomous Region of Bougainville.
Sir Mekere said the position of Whip would be rotated to give the four Members without a shadow ministry experience in the operations of Parliament on a four-monthly interval.
