Rotary stamps its mark after 50 years

By ALISON ANIS
ROTARY PNG has proudly launched four new sets of commemorative stamps to celebrate 50 years of service in the country.
The actual date falls on Sept 19.
The sets of stamps were officially launched by Minister for the State assisting the Prime Minister on Constitutional Matters Philemon Embel at the National Parliament State function room in Port Moresby yesterday.
Mr Embel congratulated Rotary on their 50 years and thanked them on behalf of the Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare for the many contributions it had made to health and education in country.
“You have done so much to help the people of Papua New Guinea and it is comforting to know that organisations such as yours are there to help.”
He added that hospitals around the country had been constant beneficiaries of Rotary’s generosity.
Mr Embel said that Rotary projects had always ranked high in the eyes of the Government including purchase and donation of a mammography machine, Rotary Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC), the distribution of brand new desks and supplies for school children and the Rotary Against Malaria mosquito net programme.
