Manus top cop not happy with CS

MANUS provincial police commander Alex N’drasal is frustrated with Correctional Services (CS) for not assisting police with manpower and funds since the closure of Manus jail.
CS Commissioner Richard Sikani made a decision in May to close the jail following a National Court decision by Justice Gregory Lay.
The incomplete jail was closed down due to unhygienic conditions.
In a letter to the provincial administrator Wep Kanawi dated May 16, Mr Sikani said the provincial administration would in the interim and future assist the police to transfer convicted prisoners to other jails in the New Guinea Islands, Lae and Madang.
However, this was not done as the parties concerned believed that it was the responsibility of CS.
