Security guard shot by criminals

A KUIMA Security guard was hurt after he was shot at point-blank by armed criminals at the University of Technology gate following the rape of a female student.
Kuima Security managing director Anton Kaupa confirmed the shooting and said the guard was undergoing medical treatment at Angau Memorial General Hospital.
“The guard single-handedly fought with the armed criminals and in the process, he was shot at point-blank and is now recovering at the hospital with pellet wounds to his body. He was manning the main gate at the eastern side of the campus,” Mr Kaupa said.
“I had to mobilise youths from a nearby settlement and we searched the place and apprehended three suspects. They are now in police custody.
“We are still looking for another four more suspects who were involved in the alleged incident,” he added.
Mr Kaupa explained that his guards were only manning the main gate at the eastern side of the campus and were monitoring people and vehicles coming in and out of the campus.
Kuima Security general manager Bob Sali also said the guard was manning the main gate and had to fight off the armed criminals and was shot at in the process.
Police are investigating the incident and arrests will be made soon.
