Allocate K1mil to LLGs to fix roads: Basil

THE MP for Bulolo Sam Basil has urged the Morobe provincial government to allocate K1 million each to local level governments to fix their own roads.
Mr Basil said the local level governments would use the money to buy machinery to repair the roads in their own wards.
“We have to give the bulldozers back to the councils. It is becoming hard to get contractors to do the work,” Mr Basil said.
In his inaugural address to the Morobe Tutumang last Friday, Mr Basil said the rural people needed roads to move their produce and allow for economic growth.
MP for Menyamya Benjaimin Philip said the Government recognised the role churches play in PNG and provided funding towards their programmes.
“The Government and the churches must work hand in hand, the churches have to be seen as equal partners in nation building,” Mr Philip said.
MP for Markham and People’s Labour Party leader Koni Iguan told the Tutumang that leaders in Morobe must work together as a team to develop the province.
He said it was important that they work together and explore ways to bring Morobe forward.
