Banabas leading scorer

PAPUA New Guinea’s Lydia Banabas is the leading goal scorer in women soccer at the Apia Games at the end of day 5 of matches on Sept 3.
Records compiled by the soccer officials showed that Banabas leads the field with five goals followed by Fiji’s Adiela Kurikaba (four), and Gloria Hauata of Tahiti (three).
Three other Papua New Guineans – Priscilla Konalalai, Cathy Agunam and Ara Midi – have scored two apiece together with Cook Island’s Unaisi Moce and Unaisi Vatulili of Fiji.

In the men’s soccer, Vanuatu’s Seule Soromon is the leading scorer with 10 goals followed by Fiji’s Osea Vakatalesau (nine), Solomon’s Commins Menapi (six), and four apiece to Francis Sakama (Vanuatu), Etienne Mermer (Vanuatu) and Benjamin Totori (Sol).
Meanwhile, the Oceania Football Confederation said yesterday the rescheduling of today’s semi-final fixtures today to accommodate television coverage by the host broadcaster RFO.
Three of the four semi-final matches will be broadcast live throughout Oceania via RFO in conjunction with the Samoa Broadcasting Corporation and courtesy of Octagon Media.
Our women will be playing Tahiti in the first semi-final while Fiji will tackle Tonga in the second encounter.
