Digicel’s Postpaid plan a mega saver

By ALFREDO P HERNANDEZ
DIGICEL’S innovative product Postpaid Plan is a mega saver.
The package includes three call time plans – Bundle 1 offering 100 minutes of airtime costing K79; Bundle 2 with 200 minutes at K140; and Bundle 3 offering 500 minutes at K300.
Although Bundle 1 costs K79, the actual benefit a subscriber will get is worth K188.35 of talk-and-text credits or units.
This means that the actual value of Postpaid Bundle 1 is more than double. Bundles 2 and 3 are obviously offering much bigger credits and therefore more savings for the subscribers.
Under the commonly-used Prepaid Flex, your K79 would only buy K79-worth of talk-and-text credits.
The National talked to at least seven Pre-paid Flex cards users who switched to Postpaid Plan to take advantage of the big savings offered by the package.
Everyone confirmed that as soon as they checked their credit balance after loading Postpaid’s exclusive SIM card, they were instantly credited with K188.35 worth of airtime for a price of only K79.
One of them, an IT manager, told The National that he called Manila for 25 minutes and was billed only K24.75 at off-peak hour rate of 99 toea per minute (tpm).
A similar call to the Philippines through Telikom landline or B Mobile would normally cost K110, at a rate of K4.40 per minute, including VAT.
Postpaid Plan has its own set of tariffs or charges.
For instance, local calls made during peak hours are charged 89tpm while off-peak hours and weekends calls will cost 44tpm.
For overseas calls, peak hour rate is K1.48 while non-peak hours and weekend calls rate is only 99tpm.
Postpaid Plan users are required to post a cash bond to serve as buffer should they use up the airtime credited to them.
Subscribers will use a separate SIM card but can still use their SIM card for Prepaid Flex cards to receive freebies like weekend free talk-and-text credits that Digicel would occasionally give to its clients.
Those who want to switch to Postpaid Plan are advised to see the local Digicel outlet in their area.
Peak hours start from 7am up to 6.59pm, Monday to Friday, while off-peak hours are from 7pm to 6.59am, weekdays. On the other hand, weekend hours start from 12.01am Saturday and end at 11.59pm Sunday.
