Time for Kaeok to deliver
I HOPE Miki Kaeok, who
has been given another five years to serve the people of
Wapenamanda, deliver tangible services to the weary and broken
people of Lowlai and Tsaka valleys. These people have been
living in isolation and deprived of basic services for decades.
Kaeok must also upgrade the deteriorating Lowlai-Kompiam and
Tsaka-Sambe feeder roads besides looking into health and
education services. These are the three areas where your
attention is
urgently needed in order to improve the welfare of the simple
people at large. I also call on the other
candidates, educated elite and business houses of Wapenamanda to
work together with Kaeok to put Wapenamanda on the national map
in terms of
providing viable social and economical services. It would be
childish to dispute Kaeok’s victory in court. The Court of
Dispute of Returns takes time and this will only deprive the
people of their rights to basic goods and services. – Wilfred

Morobe MPAs should resign
AS a true Morobean, I
condemn the actions of the provincial assembly members. Their
irresponsible actions are very degrading, demoralising, uncalled
for and paints a very bad image for the province. As such, I
call on all the Tutumang members who were involved in the
disgraceful incident to immediately resign from their posts.
This province cannot be governed by drunkards who have no
vision, aims, goals and purpose. – Brian Baring, Lae
NA Govt headed for the
vote
THE people of PNG are
predicting, after a thorough assessment of the NA-led
Government’s performance in the last two months that it would
not survive a vote of no-confidence within the 18-month grace
period. The reasons are obvious, the leader of the party has
broken his own party’s constitution. Don Polye will cross the
floor in Parliament and become the next prime minister of PNG.

Appoint ministers on
merit
I FIND it astonishing how
certain MPs and members of the public are calling for ministers
to be appointed according to the region in which they come from.
Whatever happened to the “best person for the job”? For example,
I would prefer to see the finance minister having extensive
experience in this area before his appointment. The big picture
is we cannot afford to play petty politics just to appease
everyone. – Maipka, Via email
So many bogus products
I CAME across several
notices, both in the print and TV, advising against purchasing
and use of counterfeit products. However, there are so many
counterfeit products on sale and in circulation around the
country. I do not believe that all of these products are made in
the country. What intrigues me is how they entered the country
and on an alarming proportions. Are the
Customs officials really doing their part? Were these products
smuggled in without their knowledge? Or were they bribed? –

Promote healthy lifestyle
THE biggest task facing the
Health Department is letting society know that all health issues
can be
minimised if every home in PNG makes the initial move by
educating themselves and their families on how to lead a healthy
life. We should not be lagging behind the rest of the world in
health issues when we have an endless supply of fresh produce
grown locally and available everyday. So why should we be
constantly bombarded with junk food advertisements? We lead an
active lifestyle but lack the knowledge on how to eat healthy
and keep healthy. It is time we become more pro-active. I see no
reason why the Government cannot use the media to promote a
healthier lifestyle throughout the country. – Mangi, Port

Prove voters right, Olga!
THE people of Western
Highlands have spoken and showed that they wanted a new and
vibrant leader with a vision to lead and represent them for the
next five years. Congratulations to the people of Western
Highlands for choosing a good and young leader in Tom Olga. He
is a man full of untapped knowledge and I now call on him to
show that the people did not make a mistake in giving him the
mandate to govern WHP. – Capt Karo Yama, Port Moresby
