MAJOR roads in the Kokopo district will now see major improvements after years of deterioration, thanks to funding approved by the former joint district planning and budget priorities committee under the leadership of its former chairman Sir Rabbie Namaliu.
District civil works supervisor Daniel Pukuai, said funding for the maintenance came from the district administration under the district roads improvement programme (DRIP) and the former member’s district support grant.
“A total of K340,000 is available for improvement in Kokopo for this year onwards,” he said.
The support grant of K200,000 for road improvement for the Duke of York LLG roads was currently with the district administration together with K100,000 from DRIP and K40,000 for LLG roads.”
