Telikom installs three new mobile base stations

MOBILE telephone capacity across the National Capital District was dramatically increased over the weekend, with the commissioning of three new Telikom “triple six” mobile base stations.
Engineers completed the installation of the very powerful transceivers at Commander’s Hill at Murray Barracks, at Wonga Hill near NBC and at Loloata Island.
The triple six base stations have several times greater traffic capacity than any mobile transceivers previously installed in PNG, and will ensure easier mobile phone access and greater call clarity for B Mobile customers right across the national capital, from Gerehu to the south-eastern villages.
The Loloata station is sending more powerful transmissions to service Barakau and Tubuserea.
Telikom acting chief executive Peter Loko said the increased coverage across NCD had been planned for some time.
