Opp appears more sensible

I WOULD like to express my opinion on the current political happenings in both the Government and Opposition.
The Government has been formed according to Warangoi Accord and all coalition partners expressed satisfaction.
There is no doubt the sought-after positions are controlled by the Sepiks again.
Don Polye was labelled as a “puppet” by many commentators in the last term of Parliament and this has been proved to be true because he has been slapped in the face, by being given an additional Works portfolio to stop him crying for the DPM post.
All senior resource and economic portfolios are given to the Sepiks while NA’s Highlands bloc get the crumbs.
Well, that is fine within NA but how about other signatories to Warangoi Accord.
Rural Development Party, People’s Party and Kantri Party are the obvious victims.
East Sepik, Sandaun and East New Britain provinces are blessed with more than three portfolios each while resources-rich provinces like Western, West New Britain and New Ireland provinces missed out.
This was a similar trend in the last term of Parliament from the Kokopo Agreement implying that more victims are forthcoming.
The Opposition, on the other hand, has done well in the distribution of shadow ministers, which is merit based.
The inclusion of Sir Mekere Morauta and Bart Philemon guarantees the provision of a stronger Opposition for an effective Government in service delivery and policy-making.
The chance for a change is limited but I believe that the Opposition may pave the way for a better PNG in this term of Parliament.
