Canners display choice products

 

THE inaugural Pacific tuna forum saw exhibitors from the country’s fishing industry displaying products and information booklets for the awareness of conference participants.
Exhibitors who were mainly the major sponsors of the forum included South Sea Tuna Corp, Frabelle (PNG) Ltd, PNG Fishing Industry Association, Fair Well (PNG) Ltd, and RD Tuna Canners Ltd.
The Pacific tuna forum was considered a significant event in the tuna industry development in the Pacific, acting managing director of PNG National Fisheries Authority (NFA) Sylvester Pokajam said.
It was the first time through INFOFISH that the tuna forum was held in the Pacific region and hosted by Papua New Guinea at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Port Moresby .
Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare, who officiated at the forum. welcomed the participants and acknowledged INFOFISH for helping to organise the event.
Conference discussions covered topics like tuna resources and management, tuna industry status and investment opportunities, trade and markets and eco-labelling, tuna fishing and processing technology.
