Staying in touch

MORE than 500 players from 10 associations in the country will
converge to Port Moresby for 15th National Touch Championship
this weekend.
The associations are Corporate Touch POM, Corporate Touch Lae,
Madang, East New Britain, Porgera, Kimbe, Lae, Popondetta Town,
Popondetta Touch, Samba, Central
The championship will be hosted by Corporate Touch POM who will
field the highest number of teams ñ 13 teams followed by Lae,
Madang, ENB and Samba who will field five teams, Lae Corporate
four, two Popondetta association will field three teams each
while Kimbe and Porgera will enter one team each.
The players will be vying for supremacy in their claim for
championship title for a division teams and also spot in the
squad for the 2009 Mini Games in Rarotonga, the Cook Islands.
The local organising committee announced that any touch
association wishing to take part must confirm this week and
deposit their payment of K500 per team and K25 per play by
direct deposit into Corporate Touch Port Moresby BSP Account

The championship is confirmed for Sept 14-17 at Murray Barracks
Oval in Port Moresby.
All centres are required to contact the chairman of the
organizing committee Bill Hodges or any members of the committee
The chairman Hodges has expressed confidence that everything has
just fallen in place after commencing the preparation work three
weeks ago.
He also requested the CTPM clubs to come forward and offer any
assistance with logistics and general input in staging this
event which coincides with the 32nd Independence Day celebration
in Port Moresby,.
The president said the team of the Championship is to promote
fight against HIV/Aids & Violence against women and children.
Hodges said teams traveling outside Port Moresby are encourage
to take advantage of special package arranged through for K450
per head return trip out of Lae by Airlines PNG office.
