Roaring to take to the water

NEWLY built Marawaone is roaring to set off in this weekendís the first of a series of Hiri Moale Festival canoe racing.
Marawone owner Voro Alu, who hails from Viriole village in the Abau Distirct said that it was becoign a annual event and was looking forward to some wonderful races this Friday at the Ela Beach where most canoes from the Papuan coastline will compete in the event in various divisions.
Alu said at the last major event in the Wari Vele Cup race Marawone came second best just been beaten just near the finish line by Auna Fonja in the light winds, however, he expected to perform well in fairly good winds on Friday’s race.
Maraone will compete against some champion canoes in the likes of Auna Fonja from Tubuseeia and Freedomn from Barakau including host of others who set to ignite fire to the race.
A new canoe from Kiri Goregana from Barakau village is set to give the favored canoes a run for their money in its debut race.
