Last appeal to soccer to pay player fees

By SAMPSON BONAI
Momase soccer associations have been urged to pay up their players registration fees before a fixed date can be determined for all the clubs to take part in the regional club championships in Madang next month.
PNGFA general secretary Dimirit Mileng said yesterday that they have extended the deadline for all the player’s registration fees to Sept 30 to allow ample time for all the associations to meet the requirements to pay their respective players registrations fees to PNGFA.
“We have extend the deadline to the end of this month to give ample time to allow the member associations to pay up their respective players registrations fees of K2 before we can confirm the date of the club championships,” Mileng said.
“We are now monitoring all the payments and also have been communicating with some associations and were assured that they will pay the players registration fees before the end of this month.”
Mileng said the championships will be held in October to allow many centres to get prepared for the coming PNG Games that will be held in Lae on November 16-22 this year.
The local organising committee in Madang wanted to host the championships no later than the second of October to allow them time to prepare for other sporting commitments such as the PNG Games in November.
“We will confirm the date after we have received all the player’s registration fees from all the participating clubs after the closing date to allow them time for preparation to travel to Madang for the championships.”
Lae Football Association general secretary Alex Tokey said he had liaised with PNG Football Association and have reached an understanding to submit all their player’s names and payments to PNGFA to be eligible to take part in the regional club championships.
