Bring back PTB, says Baki

Police Commissioner Gari Baki said K6 million was used for the hire of vehicles in the recent general election and urged for cost saving measures including the re-establishment of the Public Transport Board (PTB) pool.
Mr Baki said the major problem facing the mobility of the police force was the lack of vehicles and he gave the example of the elections for the Government to seriously consider the re-establishment of the Department of Work’s PTB pool.
He said when the PTB was in existence, all police vehicles and other government vehicles were regularly serviced and were readily available for big occasions like elections and official visits.
“If PTB was there, we will not hire vehicles.”
Mr Baki said this last week when making a presentation during the second day of the ‘Informed Leaders Make Good Decisions’ seminar at the Parliament House.
