Why is HIV/AIDS spreading?

WITH so much awareness and campaigns today, why is there still such a widespread HIV/AIDS in PNG?
This could be due to the fact that the drive is basically in the urban areas but nothing in the rural areas.
The bulk of the PNG population is in the rural
areas and these people are the most vulnerable to HIV/AIDS, which is on the increase in the rural areas.
They don’t have access to the media such as radio, TV or newspapers with the exception of word of mouth.
If one person in a tribe is a victim of HIV/AIDS, then there is a high likelihood that 50% of the particular tribe could be affected if no measure is taken.
It is a fact that the Kombuku tribe in Simbu province has no HIV/AIDS trainer and these people’s slack of awareness on the disease (Tribe fears for the worst, Sept 26) is understandable.
Whose responsibility is it to bring the message across?
Is it the National AIDS Council, Health Department, NGOs or the National Council of Churches?
