NCD power service to be fully restored early tonight

PNG Power is carrying out rationing in parts of the National Capital District due to a fault in a transformer at the Boroko sub-station.
But the service was expected to be fully restored early tonight or tomorrow morning, the power company said.

Meanwhile, minor power rationing in Wewak, East Sepik, is expected to continue for another month with two more machines being shut down for repair.
Deputy chief executive officer Lawrence Solomon, in a statement released yesterday said: Power rationing was being carried out after hired private contractor workers accidentally damaged a transformer cable at the Boroko sub-station.
The facility that was damaged while workmen were digging up an old cable was an 11KV cable carrying power to the sub-station.
NCD’s affected areas included the Gordon industrial site, Gordon International School and surrounding areas including 7 Mile, Magi Highway, parts of Boroko, East Boroko, Taurama, and the Sabama areas.
Mr Solomon appealed to customers with stand-by generators to use them during this period.
