Disaster meet set for Monday

FOOD security, rising sea levels, tsunami and other natural disasters are issues that will come under the microscope in an international conference on disaster management to be held in Lae starting on Monday.
The National Disaster and Emergency Service confirmed that the conference will involve PNG, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.
It will look at disaster management, response, laws regulating small crafts, chemical and waste management issues and the green house effect.
“The conference will look at these issues and come up with the best solutions on how countries in this region deal with them,” head of the disaster service in Morobe Roy Kamen said.
Mr Kamen said planning for the workshop was completed with participants were expected from all the provinces in PNG and those from the other two countries.
