Students set to tour Japan

By ALISON ANIS

THE Japanese consulate in Port Moresby on Wednesday presented airline tickets to nine students and a teacher who will be representing Papua New Guinea as young ambassadors to Japan under the student exchange programme.
The students from schools in the Central province and NCD will leave next Monday to tour Japan and learn about its culture and people.
They will be in Japan for 10 days – meeting people, visiting sites and parts of Japan and learning about the cultural heritage and the history of the country.
The trip was funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Japan and is supported by the Education Department in PNG.
Consul-general for Japan Mutsuo Kawaguchi said he was happy that young Papua New Guineans were given the opportunity to see and experience Japan first-hand.
“You will have the opportunity to see and feel for yourselves the way things are in Japan. Please learn all you can,” Mr Kawaguchi urged.
