A CORPORATE basketball competition organised by Basketball Federation Papua New Guinea started on Wednesday at the Taurama Aquatic Centre courts in Port Moresby.
Teams competing in the six-week competition are Leahy Lewin Lowing Sullivan Lawyers (LLLS), Gard Services, PBV2 Rainbow, Rainbow, Brian Bell Panthers, AON, Sonics, Kamuna, Wok Wantaim and High Performance.
Apart from the 10 teams registered, some of the teams are yet to confirm their participation as they have not paid their registration fees and will likely pull out.
BFPNG chief executive officer Joel Khalu told The National that the main aim of the competition was to promote the sport in the working class, especially among companies.
The competition has a men’s, women’s and mixed division.
“The competition is all about growing the game here in PNG and that is what we focus on,” Khalu said.
The competition ends on Nov 16.
