Forgotten Wabo

I AM an oilfield worker and I’ve travelled through some of the most remote places in PNG.
One of them is Wabo in Gulf province.
The people there rarely travel to the nearest town because it is so isolated.
They are in need of simple and basic services like an aidpost orderly with supplies, primary school teachers and a boat to travel up and down Purari River.
They don’t need permanent buildings as they can build their own using bush materials for classrooms and aid posts.
The only cost is transportation by boat from the nearest town.
How much is that compared to all the thousands and millions going into the hands of thieves both within and outside the Finance Department?
If we can do away with corruption and use the money to deliver services to desperate Papua New Guineans like the Wabo people, I believe PNG will progress dramatically.
I also challenge their Open MP to go back to where he is supposed to serve and look at his people’s needs.
