DIGICEL is working together with St John to implement a single nationwide emergency number, 111.
With technical assistant from Digicel, the St John Emergency Communication Centre at Rainbow, Port Moresby, now receives all Emergency Service calls made on 111.
Digicel has so far contributed by ensuring that different emergency numbers are routed to St John Emergency Communication Centre; providing full technical implementation support to St John to upgrade the Communication Centre; expanding the Digicel network to include communications to St John Emergency Communication Centre; and funding additional staff in the Communication Centre.
