AFL making impact in Gulf province

By HENRY MORABANG
The Australia Football League is picking up in Gulf province with the new support from Hearo Alex Trading in Kerema town recently.
AFL-Gulf coordinator Peter Magaea who fronted the office with the t’shirt sponsored by Alex Trading stated that many people are coming forward to support the Australia number one sport.
Under the sponsorship agreement, Alex Trading has provided and printed 30 T-shirts for the AFL-Gulf squad for the regional championship.
He said Alex Trading said they would assist AFL next year with transport and accommodation for the regional championship especially in Port Moresby.
“I am very happy with the commitment made by Alex Trading which clearly shows that the interest is coming from all corners such as Kikori, Malalaua and Kaintiba areas of Gulf province,” he said.
Magaea said he was also impressed with support given by new Governor Havila Kavo
He said he made the same commitment that former Governor made which showed that the political heads of the province are behind the sports apart from rugby league and basketball.
Kavo’s focus was human resource development and AFL was the right sports to support as it as a good pathway programs leading towards representative football and chances of winning big time contracts overseas in Cairns, Gold Coast or even in the heart of Brisbane, Australia.
