Pre-season winners
MANALOS and Gazelle were the king and
queens of Port Moresby Softball Association pre-season
competition this season.
Manalos down Brown Eagles 9-7 to win the men’s softball title
while Gazelle thrashed new team, Stringerz 13-6 in the women’s
final.
The pre-season champion in the men’s division walked away with
K600 while Brown Eagles settled for K400, and all other
participating teams receive K150.00.
In the women’s grand final, the Port Moresby Women’s Association
kept the tradition of playing for Nancy Kamara Cup which saw
reigning premiers Gazelle win the trophy from Stingerz. The
winners collected K500 while Stingerz walked home with K400,
Bears settled for K300 while Malangan collected K200 for
finishing fourth while the other teams collected K150.
The major sponsor, Digicel provided a Digicel packet for the
Player of the Season which was won by Danny Mong of Manalos
while Jessica Tonga picked the women’s award.
