The bucks stops with Govt: Polye

THE Air Niugini woes must be addressed by the National Government, Works Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Don Polye said yesterday.
The minister said this when answering questions about the continuous flight delays by Air Niugini, which was causing a lot of inconvenience to travellers.
“The buck must stop somewhere and it is with the Government,” Mr Polye said. “I don’t want to be seen as passing the buck; secondly I am part of this Government and I am responsible for any problems that occur.”
Mr Polye confirmed that there was a problem with Air Niugini and delays affecting passengers but was confident the minister responsible for Public Enterprises Arthur Somare would resolve the issue.
“Really, we got a problem and I sympathise with the people who have been affected due to flight delays but I am confident that the minister responsible is addressing the issues.”
