Fisheries in Morobe province have huge potential: Wenge

FISHERIES have a huge potential and the Morobe provincial government will continue to work with the private sector to develop it, Governor Luther Wenge said.
Mr Wenge said his government would continue to develop inland and coastal fishing projects, and it was important that these activities were supported.
“You are appointed because the provincial government believed that you can work to enhance the work of the Morobe Fisheries Development Authority (MFMA),” Mr Wenge told new members of the authority last Friday.
After their swearing-in ceremony, Mr Wnege told the members that policies were bearing fruits and it was up to them to carry on the good work.
He said the National Development Bank and the private sector were providing finance and market respectively for the people to participate in the fisheries industry.
Mr Wenge said the new members should develop the inland fishing industry.
He said it was also important that the authority develop a good fish market in Lae for people to sell and buy fresh fish.
