Women’s group gets timely donation

THE Aiope Women’s Group from Teua constituency in the west coast area of mainland Bougainville last week received a timely donation of sewing equipment from the Kunua Council of Elders (CoE).
The Kunua CoE presented 10 sewing machines and other sewing materials to the women to help improve their life style.
According to the Aiope women’s president Loats Puapua, she was happy and thanked the CoE on behalf of the group for recognising their role in the community.
Mrs Puapua said the vision and aim of the group was to strengthened and improve the living standard in their communities.
“With the donation of the sewing equipment, I believe we mothers can now help to improve our communities’ livelihood with whatever skills and knowledge we have on tailoring business,” Mrs Puapua said.
She also revealed that the group focused more in helping youths by providing counselling and involving them in community-based activities.
Mrs Puapua urged the women to use the equipment for the benefit of their communities.
