New programmes to be set up to improve discipline

BOY Scouts and Girl Guides are to be introduced in all schools in Morobe to improve discipline among the students.
Lack of discipline among students was a major problem in schools in Morobe, senior educator in Morobe Joe Solulu said.
Mr Solulu said the introduction of the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides into schools was to improve students’ behaviour and attitude.
Mr Solulu said the 20 primary, high, secondary and vocational schools in the Lae district would be the first to take introduce the Girl Guides and Boy Scouts programmes into their schools.
“This would be compulsory to all schools in Morobe.”


SI to build consulate office here

A LOCAL architectural firm has been selected by the Solomon Island government to design the new Solomon Island High Commission office that will be built in Port Moresby, Solomon Island prime minister’s media office said yesterday.
The multi-million dollar office complex will be built at a prime site in Waigani which has been allocated for foreign diplomatic missions, Solomon Islands High Commissioner to PNG Bernard Bata’anisia said.
The Solomon Island central tender board (CTB) selected the Port Moresby- based Archiscape Group out of four other short-listed bidders from Solomon Islands and PNG.

Boeing back in service this weekend

The Viva Macau Boeing aircraft on a wet lease to Air Niugini is under repair and will resume its full schedule by the end of this week, Minister for State Enterprise Arthur Somare assured Parliament yesterday.
Mr Somare said the state of plane was concern and there were plans for the acquisition of a new aircraft through Royal Brunei Airlines to fly international routes.
Mr Somare said IPBC had approved K40 million for the purchase but the process for its acquisition had been slow.
