Lahi Soccer heads into finals round
for top five
By JASON SOM KAUT
The weekend promises
to be a thriller for Lahi Soccer as teams head into the
elimination finals to determine the four finalists that will vie
for the major honours.
In premier league matches at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium on
Saturday the main fixture is between second-placed Unitech and
third-placed Sogeram in what should be an exciting game at 4pm.
The first game at 2pm sees fourth-placed Sambure take on Mungkas
who forfeited Bumayong in a re-match last Saturday at Telikom
Training College (TTC)
Mungkas were awarded the rematch on technical grounds after
Bumayong failed to field nine premier league players.
The forfeit win gives them a point’s advantage over Bismarck to
claim the fifth spot and a chance in the finals play-off.
The game will no doubt be a thriller with both teams expected to
take it to the wire to keep their finals hopes alive. Mungkas
are intent on proving their worth and Sambure will surely give
their all in their first finals appearance.
The loser in game one bows out.
Bismarck are understood to be at odds with the decision and will
appeal the decision.
Saturday’s matches at SIKS start at 9am with Bumayong taking on
a spirited TTC Bullets and Mungkas meets Rapatona in the women’s
league.
The next game at 1pm sees TTC Bullets challenge Sobou in the
first division game one with the Bullets.
Sobou remain favourites if they can contain Bullets who will
come strong.
Three matches will be played at TTC starting with Under 23 mens
at 11am with Unitech going up against PNG Power with the loser
bowing out before rivals Sobou take on Bismark Coro. The main
first division game sees Bismark take on PNG Power.
