Basil puts priority on water accessibility for Wau-Bulolo

By LUCY KAPI
PEOPLE who have access to clean and safe water for drinking, washing and cooking will be less prone to sickness, Bulolo MP Sam Basil said.
He regretted that although Wau and Bulolo had been considered as urban towns for some time, services such as water supply, garbage collection and sanitation were still poor or non-existent.
He said towns accorded the status should have the necessary infrastructure for the benefit of the people.
He said economic activities in Wau and Bulolo had increased due to the increase in economic activities there due to mining activities at Wafi and Hidden Valley, and it was important that the towns get the services.
“I would like to engineer the change,” he said when presenting a cheque for K15,000 to the PNG Waterboard in Parliament last week for the commencement of a feasibility study for the water project in Wau and Bulolo areas.
Mr Basil said it was his objective for the next five years to ensure that development projects in Bulolo would have real and greater impact on the people and their future generations.
He said water was a basic necessity and ensuring clean access water for his people was therefore a priority.
“I will ensure that all communities within my electorate have access to clean and safe water,” he said.
