Baki revamps RPNGC
By SHEILA LASIBORI
TWO assistant police commissioners will swap their current positions
with their former jobs in a major reshuffle announced this week by
Police Commissioner Gari Baki.
The transfers and changes published last Wednesday also revealed the
downgrading of the South Fly command in Western province to a police
station level as the province intends to move police headquarters from
Daru to Kiunga in North Fly district.
The swap will be done by assistant commissioner (ACP) Jim Wan, currently
at Southern command, who will return to ACP policy and planning
currently held by Anthony Wagambie, who now returns to Southern command.
The two officers were swapped immediately after Mr Baki took office as
commissioner of police and Wednesday’s announcement was the major change
he effected since assuming office.
The Southern commander’s staff officer Snr Insp Reuben Giusu will now be
Maprik police station commander (PSC) in East Sepik.
The transfer covered 43 commissioned officers from ACPs, chief
superintendents, superintendents, inspectors and senior inspectors and
was to be completed by Dece 31 this year.
In the ACP ranks, New Guinean Islands (NGI) regional commander Fred
Sheekiot will now assist the commissioner on special duties, while NCD/Central
commander Alfred Reu heads the human resource from Francis Tokura who
will head the NGI command.
Some of those affected are: Awan Sete (special duties) to ACP NCD/Central;
Thomas Eluh (director prosecutions) to Western Highlands PPC; Mark
Kanawi (NCD metropolitan superintendent) to director prosecutions; Micah
Anaiwe (director crimes) to PPC Madang; Leo Kabilo (PPC ESP) to PPC
Morobe; Simon Nigi (PPC SHP) to training commandant (Police College).
Teddy Tei (PPC Enga) to PPC Eastern Highlands; Peter Guinness (NCD OIC
CID) to PPC East Sepik; Sylvester Euga (PPC WNB) to EO to Momase
division commander; Michael Chare (chief instructor) to PPC Enga.
Anthony Wagambie (Jnr) (PPC Madang) to PPC Gulf; Winnie Henao (PPC WHP)
to Director Traffic (PHQ) and Bawa Anderson (NCD OIC traffic) to
superintendent operations (NCD).
