CULTURE and Tourism Minister Charles Abel has directed National Museum and Art Gallery acting director Vincent Kaupa to investigate the alleged withdrawal of funds from the institute’s accounts by certain individuals.
Mr Abel confirmed with The National yesterday that he was aware of allegations that the individuals with access to the account had withdrawn money from it.
However, he did not want to say as to how much had allegedly been taken.
He said the NMAG management would look into those allegations and if confirmed to be true, the matter would be referred to police.
In the meantime, he had assured that maintenance at the museum would continue until completed despite recent changes in the management.
