Hotel gives Dogura cricket a boost

By SUSAN OREAPE-FARAPO
DOGURA cricket club will have no problems with sporting gears and affiliation fees as Airways Hotel assisted them financially with more than K2,000.
Yesterday the Airways management donated a cheque of K2,900 to the Dogura cricket club to fully equip them for their participation in the Port Moresby Cricket Association. The money will assist the club to pay their affiliation fees for the three divisions B grade, U19 and U16.
“The money will be used to pay all our affiliation fees and also purchase uniforms and playing gears to assist us for the season,” Dogura’s spokesman Degure Gorogo said.
He said it was a boost to the club as it will give a good outer image of the players especially in full cricket gear including a uniform, giving a more professional outlook.
The club has developed a number of young cricketers with three of its players making the U15 national team who attended the Pacific Games in Samoa this year. .
“We are really happy with the assistance from Airways and will make sure we promote the company in our cricket matches every weekend,” Gorogo said.
Airways Hotes director of operations, Michael Baud said the company was proud to sponsor a local club to show that they were a good corporate citizen in assisting the local communities. With the assistance the club changed its name to Airways
Dogura.
