Busy running day

TOMORROW kicks off a busy weekend for POM Road Running. Runners will start at 5pm with 2.5km and 6km events at Murray Primary School, Gabaka Street. This meet is particularly popular with the sprinters, beginners and walkers due the short distances of the races and no hills!
Then on Sunday morning the more serious runners will tackle the Town-Airport Half Marathon. Competitors will assemble at the POM Post Office for a 5am start. Contenders for the gold medal include James “Must Run” Gurumi, Swans Pinampio, Noko Negosa and Andrew Tully.
Runners will need to save something for the return journey as they must overcome the steep Burn’s Peak on Poreporena Highway well before they see the finishing line. The runners will be wearing their distinctive red singlets proudly provided by Bilas Bakery in support of grass roots sport.
