Gun woes rife in WHP

By JAMES APA GUMUNO

THERE are more guns in the Mul-Baiyer electorate, Western Highlands province, than Southern Highlands province, according to local Member and Minister for Internal Security Sani Rambi.
He said the only way to minimise the problem was for everybody to take ownership over the guns-related problems in their communities by working closely with the law enforcing agencies.
Mr Rambi said as the minister responsible, he could not say that he had the answers to rid the gun problems in his electorate or even the province as a whole.
He said he needed cooperation from everybody in the electorate and province as a whole to deal with the problems and the same apply to other provinces.
Mr Rambi said that the problem would be still be around even if he pumped more money and bring in extra new 400-500 police personnel into the province.
He said the people must cooperate with the law enforcing agencies to address the problems to make the province safe to live and work in.
He said this after a local businessman in the city, Bora Pamunda, expressed concern over escalating law and order problems in the city and province.
