Murray joins Tabubil Hospital

REFERRAL of patients from Tabubil Hospital to other major hospitals for further medical examination will now be reduced.
The inclusion of a physician, Dr Za’ufa Laki Murray, to Tabubil Hospital now boosts the hospital’s manpower, bringing the number of doctors to four.
Dr Murray, of Henganofi, Eastern Highlands province, is a specialist medical officer in the area of adult medicine. He graduated from UPNG in 1996.
After completing his five-year masters programme in 2005, he worked with the Port Moresby General Hospital for about a year before joining OTML on Aug 9.
Married with four children, Dr Murray brings with him a lot of experience in the area of adult medicine looking at lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, heart diseases and asthma, among others.
Just over a month of being with the hospital, Dr Murray is already concerned about the alarming cases of lifestyle diseases among the employees and the local communities.
He said the increase in lifestyle diseases was mainly due to lack of exercise.
He said the disease pattern for Port Moresby General Hospital was different from Tabubil.
Dr Murray is happy to be part of the hospital’s team, especially working for a private hospital with high standard facilities.
Tabubil Hospital administrator Patricia Bayly, in welcoming Dr Murray said, it was part of their plan to have a specialist doctor as part of the team.
