Jealous husband pulls baby out of wife’s womb

By JAMES APA GUMUNO
A MAN repeatedly beat up his wife at their home for one week and then tore out their unborn child from her womb.
The man, who is believed to be a drug addict, also poured hot water on Toy Moli, who was finally saved by her father.
Moli is now recovering at the Kudjip Nazarene hospital in Anglimp district, Western Highlands.
Her legs, arms and other parts of her body were still swollen.
The couple was married 10 months ago.
The man, who suspected Moli of having an affair with another villager, locked her up in their house and tortured her.
Her father heard about it and rushed over to the house.
The man had disappeared.

Cops avert robbery
POLICE in Goroka, Eastern Highlands province, averted an armed robbery by three men along the Highlands Highway yesterday morning.
Following a tip-off, they caught up with a PMV heading for Lae a few kilometres outside of Goroka and arrested the three men on board.
Two were armed with pistols and it is believed that they were planning a robbery somewhere between Goroka and Kainantu.
Eastern Highlands police commander Supt Philip Solala said the men were likely to be charged with illegal possession of firearms.
He said that regular patrols in Goroka, particularly in the shopping areas, had helped to reduce petty crime.
Yesterday, an auxiliary police unit detained a thief.
